About this deal

Alli Frank and Asha Youmans' Tiny Imperfections is a lighthearted romp through the world of private school admissions, with some family drama thrown in for good measure.

I liked how he tells the story of how much he identified with his family, despite being different, and missed the type of house he grew up in when he visited others with more typical houses. But a chance encounter forces her to confront the truth: what happened to make Macy stop speaking to Elliot? The main character started to annoy me and I became uninterested in the entire admissions story line. Which is a shame because it started off so well, but somewhere in the middle, the book just lost the allure for me and was no longer engaging.Written mostly in a millennial banter (think Facebook posts and texts by people of a certain age), this story of a kindergarten admissions director during applications season is fun. The story follows 3 generations of Black women - Josie, a single admissions director at Fairchild, her daughter Etta, a senior preparing to head out into the world, and Aunt Viv, the matriarch who runs the school cafeteria … and I am NOT ready to let these ladies go. Soothed by sea breezes, they become fascinated with their mysterious landlord and her late artist partner, Red is befriended by a flirty neighbor and her surfer husband, and Sharon shares her literary passions with a sexy retiree. Award-winning author and illustrator Ashley Spires has created a charming picture book about an unnamed girl and her very best friend, who happens to be a dog. Not only does this one line fetishize the hell out of gay men, but it also is enforcing yet another stereotype that the Bay Area is full of gays.

The dazzling new picture book that addresses the universal themes of being different, feeling like you don't fit in, and finding yourself along the way. Josie has got to be one of my favorite characters ever, and I would love to see more about the Bordelon family, especially after the ending of Tiny Imperfections. Peet Montzingo is a multi-faceted artist with a curious and kind heart, whose talents span creating original content, singing, comedy, and so much more.Again, this is a children's book but there are lessons that an adult person can pick upon reading this wonderful peice of literature. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Although this story is about a tall person grow up in a family of little people it can be looked at for any disability and growing up differently.
