About this deal

When looking at the best guitar cleaning kits and maintenance products, ask yourself what exactly it is you want to do. If you’re playing guitar fairly infrequently, then you might just want to grab something that keeps the strings feeling fresh, so that you don’t have to change them as much.

For me 1 Fastfret lasts for 5-6 months now and it definately saves me at least 2 string sets in that time. Not to mention the strings have better sound and are cleaner all the time. It is not a rip off. Grabbing yourself one or two things from this list will mean that you’ve got the tools to keep your instrument running at its best. Of course, what you choose will likely depend on how far you want to go with it. Also know, can I use fast fret on coated strings? FastFret is just mineral oil. I use it with uncoated strings just to help preserve them. I wouldn’t expect that it should have any effect on the string coating, but if Elixir say no, I’d go along with that. If he has a maple-board electric he shouldn’t use Fast Frets no matter what strings! Then, can you boil guitar strings to clean them? You should also invest some money in buying specialized cleaning tools to keep your strings and fingerboard in great shape.Keeping your beloved instrument clean is incredibly important. Many players would shudder if they realised just how dirty their guitars can get. From sweat and dead skin to the horrendous finger jam that builds up on the fretboard, they all have an effect on the playability and appearance of your guitar.

This really does what it says on the tin – it’s a complete kit for when you want to set up your guitars. It’s got everything you’ll need to tweak the action, adjust the intonation, replace the strings – even tools that will reach all those annoying, hard to reach nuts and screws. On the cleaning side of things, you’re provided with a microfibre cloth (guitarists should always have one of these to hand) as well as some of Ernie Ball’s Wonder Wipes. These are individual wipes that have been specially designed for cleaning dirty strings, the fingerboard and the guitar body – so everything you need for a good old clean! This is a full and comprehensive collection of polishes and solutions to help keep your guitar looking and feeling fresh. From the body to the fingerboard, to the strings, the Dunlop 6500 System really is one of the best guitar cleaning products out there. Designed to clean your fretboard and frets themselves without damaging them, you’ll want to use this when you’re changing strings, as they’ll need to be removed before you begin. I found it a bit easier to use than cleaner by Dunlop because the applicator stays wet for all time, no need to shake as with Dunlop bottle.

String Cleaner and Lubricant

Needless to say, we recommend keeping a clean, dry microfiber cloth handy in your guitar case or gig bag, so you can wipe down your axe after every use. We'd also suggest investing in some quality polish and fretboard cleaner as well. This is a kit for players who want the tools to tweak and set their guitars up, on hand, in a nicely designed, compact case. The Fender Custom Shop toolkit is made with guitar maintenance pioneers, GrooveTech and it has everything you need, and nothing you don’t; plus they’re super high quality. All the claims that it has are pretty much made-up stuff. Does it clean your strings? Is it maybe just because you have rubbed your guitar strings and entire fretboard with mineral oil then you need to remove the excess oil, naturally you will be cleaning the gunk on your strings. Apply the solution to the cloth – Don’t take off your cloth yet. Open the top part of your cloth. Apply a little bit of cleaning / lubricating solution on the cloth. Close the top part. Your cloth should be wrapped around the strings.

This handy toolkit provides you with everything you need to carry out a restring and make any necessary tweaks to your action. There’s a decent set of string cutters that will be strong enough to use on a bass guitar, if you need to, as well as a comprehensive set of Allen keys – whatever you need to adjust, chances are, one of these is going to fit perfectly. You’ve also got a 6-in-1 screwdriver, string height gauge and string winder. All of these tools should be enough for guitar set ups and regular maintenance duties. Fast-Fret allows you to play faster, maintains brightness, prolongs the life of your fingerboard wood - and it's effects are long lasting. Wrap your string with the cloth– Take one end of your cloth and place it under the strings and with the other end cover the strings. The end result should be that the cloth will cover the strings from the bottom and the top. Solutions with a sponge – There are solutions that will have a sponge attached to them. In that case, apply the solution using that sponge to the strings. Slide the sponge applied to your guitar strings by going up and down a few times. All factors being equal (string gauge, string length beyond the nut and saddle, break angles, and so on), shorter scales produce lower string tension, are more elastic, easier to fret, and require less arm extension.

Sorry

Inside, you’ll find two handy cleaning products – a fret buffer and some fingerboard conditioner. First up, use the grey side of the fret buffer to lightly clean the dirt and grime off the frets themselves, then use the white side to polish them up to a lovely smooth-playing shine. How long does fast fret last? After a different thread saying about fast fret and how many people used it and recomended it I decided I ought to give it a go, however it was quite late and obviously no shops open so I thought I`d give the olive oil thing a go, I just used a peice of kitchen paper and poured a very tiny amount of olive oil onto it, gave it a little sniff (like ya do ) coz I wondered if it would make my hands stink, but no real smell to it in fairness, then I gently rubbed the cloth down the strings, just very lightly, then with a clean cloth wiped off any excess (there wasnt much) too my suprise it really did work rather well, certainly made sliding up and down the strings a hell of a lot easier, it took me a bit of getting used to at first, a totally different feel, but once i got used to it it was ok. I`m not sure that I`ll carry on with olive oil I`m not sure I`ll want to be rubbing it all over my new guitars fretboard (when t comes), I think I`ll invest in the fast fret, just seemed odd putting olive oil onto the strings There are natural essential oils that you can toss into your salad and still survive! Note that these are for your fingerboards! But if you ever thought rubbing mineral oil to your strings and the fingerboard is fine, you can do the same with these essential oils. Does Boiling Guitar Or Bass Strings Work Or Worth It? Boiling guitar or bass string will remove the gunk from them but it will not fix structural damage. The process of boiling and restringing the guitar or the bass can sometimes take a lot of time and thus may become not worth it. Can you use fast fret on Maple?
