Doubts about monitor reliability defeat the whole purpose of the device which is designed to give parental peace of mind. We can’t believe we are saying this, but Infant Optics might have hit a homerun with their new Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro. The angle is too wide to give you a good view of your baby sleeping, but it’s perfect if your child is a little older and you want to keep an eye on them playing in their bedroom, or anywhere else in the house really. This "zoom" lens allows for a closer look at the baby, but we aren't sure it is a handy tool unless you use it as a permanent part of the camera so you can place the camera further from your baby for a decrease in EMF exposure.

The indoor range is functional up to 4 walls, one of the fewest in the group, and we think the Infant Optics is a monitor] that might struggle in larger homes with more space and rooms between baby and parents. We assume the parent device will be within arm's reach, so the level can vary and be higher the closer it is to you. The included optical zoom lens is a great addition if you need to place the camera farther away (note that it shouldn’t be less than 3 feet away; make sure it’s out of baby’s reach). When out of range, the video will cut out, a warning sign will appear, and the unit will beep every 30 seconds until it reconnects. For us, most of the answers to these questions were simply “ no” because all we wanted was something basic and, most importantly, reliable.In our experience, only a few are features you'll use regularly, but the others may be something you want "just in case. I placed it on a shelf in my son's room, and the second I plugged in the camera, video appeared on the monitor. There are a lot of baby monitors with more features but if you don’t trust it to work every time or you fear about how secure it is – you will end up being unhappy.
